About Tydepool

A tide pool is nature’s curiosity engine – a small, hidden world where you crouch down, peer in, and discover wonders you’d never see otherwise. Tiny crabs. Strange sea stars. Creatures you didn’t know existed. That’s the feeling we’re building here.

Tydepool is where curious minds dive deep into animals, nature, and discovery.

The name is a nod to the naturalists of old. “Tyde” is the archaic English spelling of “tide” — the way explorers, field scientists, and curious wanderers wrote it in their journals and letters for centuries before the spelling was standardized. They were the ones who crouched at rocky shorelines, sketched strange creatures by candlelight, and asked “what is that?” long before Google existed. We’re carrying on that tradition — just with better lighting and fewer quill pens.

Right now, Tydepool is home to a growing A-Z animal encyclopedia – 1,500+ creatures from every habitat on earth, written for the genuinely curious. Whether you’re a student with a report due tomorrow, a parent fielding endless “but why?” questions, a homeschooling family on a deep dive, or someone who just needs to know everything about axolotls right now — you’re in the right place.

But this is just the beginning.

We’re building Tydepool into something bigger – games, quizzes, stories, and adventures that make learning feel less like homework and more like exploration. Less dusty textbook. More “wait, did you know octopuses have THREE HEARTS?!”
